Ask the assistant

Ask the assistant

The assistant is a chat panel on every Dalfin screen. Ask it what needs your attention, what the screen you are on is for, or where to go to do something, and it answers with links that take you there.

Before you start

  • Everyone who is signed in can open the assistant.
  • It answers from what your account can see. It cannot change anything for you.

Steps

Open the assistant

Select the round chat button in the bottom-right corner of the screen (Open the assistant). If something urgent needs your attention, the button shows a number. The Assistant panel opens: "Answers from what you can see. It cannot change anything."

Check what needs attention

If there is anything waiting for you, it is listed under Needs attention, each with a count and a short description. Select an item to go straight to that screen; the panel closes.

Ask a question

Under Or ask, select one of the ready-made questions (What needs my attention today?, What is this screen for?, Where do I go to do this?), or type your own in Ask about this screen, your data, or where to go… and press Enter or select Send. While it works you see "Looking it up…".

Follow a suggested link

The answer appears in the panel. If it suggests places to go, they are shown as buttons under the answer. Select one to go there.

Close the assistant

Select the x at the top of the panel, select the chat button again, or press Escape.

⚠️

The assistant is still being set up. Until it is switched on for your organization, the panel shows "The assistant is not available right now." instead of a message box. Any Needs attention figures shown above that message still work.

Tip: The assistant knows which screen you are on, so "What is this screen for?" gives an answer about the page you have open. The conversation is not saved; it starts fresh when you reload the page.
